Ovuge Terms and Conditions

1. Description of Service

Ovuge is a professional networking and project-hosting platform designed for student developers and software creators. The Platform allows users to showcase software projects, embed public code repositories via a native code explorer, upload media (videos/images), find and manage project collaborators, verify institutional affiliations, and interact through a global feed and specific organizational networks.

2. Account Registration and Security

1. Eligibility: You must be a human to open an account. Accounts registered by "bots" or automated methods are not permitted.
2. Authentication: You may register using third-party OAuth providers (e.g., Google, GitHub). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your authentication credentials.
3. Account Accountability: You are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized uses of your account or any other breaches of security.

3. Third-Party Integrations and GitHub API

To power the native Code Viewer, Ovuge requires access to your public code repositories.

1. Personal Access Tokens (PAT): If you choose to link a repository manually, you may be required to provide a GitHub Personal Access Token. You agree to provide a token with ONLY the public_repo scope.
2. Security Limitation: Ovuge is not responsible for damages, data loss, or unauthorized access to your private repositories if you provide a token with elevated or administrative privileges beyond the requested public_repo scope.
3. Third-Party Terms: Your use of GitHub integrations is also subject to GitHub's Terms of Service and Privacy Statement.

4. User-Generated Content and Intellectual Property

1. Ownership: You retain all ownership rights, intellectual property rights, and copyrights to the original code, videos, images, and text you upload to Ovuge (your "Content"). Ovuge does not claim ownership over your software projects.
2. License Granted to Ovuge: By uploading Content, you grant Ovuge a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, display, distribute, and perform your Content in connection with the Platform (e.g., rendering code in the Code Viewer, displaying videos on the global feed, and indexing projects in the Explore search).
3. AI Snapshots and Processing: Ovuge utilizes automated edge functions and AI models (including Gemini) to generate project summaries, tags, and snapshots based on your repository's git trees and metadata. By uploading a project, you explicitly consent to this automated processing of your public repository data.
4. PIDs (Project IDs): Ovuge assigns a unique six-digit identifier (e.g., #GL123456) to each project. PIDs are the property of Ovuge. We reserve the right to revoke, reassign, or modify PIDs at our sole discretion.

5. Collaboration and Workspaces

Ovuge provides tools for users to apply to projects, invite collaborators, and manage tasks within a shared Workspace.

1. Independent Parties: Collaborators are independent users. Ovuge is not a party to any agreement, employment, or intellectual property arrangement made between a project owner and a collaborator.
2. Disputes: Any disputes regarding code ownership, contribution credit, or project management must be resolved directly between the users. Ovuge bears no liability for the actions, omissions, or IP theft committed by collaborators.
3. Removal: Project owners reserve the right to remove any collaborator from their Workspace at any time for failing to comply with their project's specific terms.

6. Verification and Networks

1. Domain Verification: Ovuge offers an institutional verification system utilizing domain emails (e.g., .edu addresses). You agree to only verify domains that you legitimately own or are authorized to use.
2. Network Integrity: You may not attempt to spoof, bypass, or falsify verification to gain entry into an organizational Network (e.g., a specific college network) to which you do not belong.

7. Endorsements

Ovuge allows users to write endorsements for collaborators based on their contributions.

1. Accuracy: You agree to only write truthful, accurate endorsements reflecting actual work performed on a linked project.
2. Liability: Ovuge does not verify the factual accuracy of user endorsements and is not liable for any misleading, false, or defamatory endorsements. Users may choose to hide or display endorsements on their profiles.

8. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to use the Platform to:

1. Upload, post, or link to any malicious code, viruses, trojans, or malware.
2. Upload projects or code that you did not create or do not have the right to share (Plagiarism/Academic Dishonesty).
3. Spam users with unsolicited collaboration requests or manual project invitations.
4. Attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or bypass the platform's rate limiting, REST APIs, or database architecture.
5. Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, abusive, fraudulent, or obscene.

9. Privacy Policy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which details how we collect, use, and protect your personal data, including email addresses, OAuth data, and project metadata. By using Ovuge, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, restrict your access to Networks, or remove your projects at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or posed a risk to the security of the Platform.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM AND ALL INCLUDED CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. OVUGE SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OVUGE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM (A) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE PLATFORM; (B) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE PLATFORM; OR (C) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT.

13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the Platform (e.g., through your inbox or a platform-wide notice) or via email. Your continued use of the Platform after the changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
